Documentation of orchestrion music rolls of mechanic machines in Czech colection fond and comparasion with orchestrion Philips Paganini model 3 in Technical museum in Brno

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá mechanickou hudbou a hracími stroji. Pojednává o mechanických hracích strojích nacházejících se ve sbírkách muzeí v České republice a porovnává je se stavem sbírky Technického muzea v Brně. Obsahuje výčet českých výrobců mechanických strojů od konce 19. století a příklad současného výrobce světového výrobce. V části věnující se evropským muzeím jsou popsány exponáty jejich sbírek, postupy restaurování a digitalizace sbírek. Práce je zaměřena na mechanické stoje Technického muzea v Brně, především kino-orchestrion Philips Paganini model 3 a k němu náležící papírové pásy, dále na evidenci jejich muzejních sbírek výhled do budoucna. V závěru práce jsou nastíněny možné doporučení pro správce sbírek týkající se tvorby kopií předmětů a 3D modelů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to mechanical music and mechanical instruments. The thesis examines mechanical instruments in collections of Czech museums and compares them with items in the collections of Technical museum in Brno. The thesis includes chapters on mechanical instruments Czech manufacturers until the end of 19th century and shows example of a modern mechanical instruments manufacturer. The chapter dealing with European museums describes the items in their collections and their restoration and digitalization. The thesis concentrates mainly on the collections of Technical museum in Brno and namely on their kino-orchestrion Philips Paganini model 3 and paper rolls belonging to it, and furthermore on keeping records of the collection articles and the future development. The thesis concludes in a short chapter that presents possible suggestions for the collection keepers regarding the copying of items and making of 3D models.
