The Role of Games in English Lessons in Primary Education

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá významem didaktických her a jejich použitím v hodinách anglického jazyka na 1. stupni ZŠ. Cílem této práce je prokázat prospěšnost didaktických her v návaznosti na výuku anglického jazyka u dětí mladšího školního věku. Teoretická část této diplomové práce uvádí poznatky, které přikládají valný vliv užívání didaktických her po čas výuky. Jsou zde uvedeny poznatky, které didaktickou hru přibližují z pedagogického a psychologického hlediska. Teoretická část této práce také uvádí charakteristiku dítěte mladšího školního věku a poznatky o jeho psychickém a kognitivním vývoji. Empirická část diplomové práce se věnuje analýze, interpretaci a prezentaci sebraných poznatků a dat, které vyplynuly z výzkumného šetření. Empirická část se v neposlední řadě zabývá hledáním odpovědí na jasně stanovené výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the importance of didactic games and their use in English language classes at the first level of primary school. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the usefulness of didactic games in relation to English language teaching for younger school-age children. The theoretical part of this thesis presents the findings that attribute a great influence to the use of didactic games during the teaching time. Findings that approach didactic games from a pedagogical and psychological perspective are presented. The theoretical part of this thesis also presents the characteristics of the younger school-age child and the findings on his/her psychological and cognitive development. The empirical part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis, interpretation and presentation of the collected findings and data that emerged from the research investigation. It deals with strictly stated research questions and seeks answers to them.
