The Three Tree Test and the Family Drawing Test in a Group of Young School Children and Adolescents

Abstract:

Our thesis deals with projective family diagnostics with regard to the age of the examined individuals. Our aim was to find out the differences between the two different age groups in the Three Tree Test. We administered the Family Drawing Test along with the Three Tree Test. Both methods were administered to a group of 40 young school children (aged 8 to 11) and a group of adolescents (aged 17 to 19). The drawings were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. In the theoretical part, we write about family, young school age and adolescence. We also discuss projective psychodiagnostic techniques with the emphasis on drawings. The results of our study show significant differences between the group of young school children and the adolescents in some features of the Three Tree Test. The test detects the developmental differences in perceiving one’s family and oneself in the family. For both age groups it seems to be suitable to administer the Three Tree Test along with the Family Drawing Test. Our results are compared with other authors’ outcomes in the discussion section.

Abstract:

Naša diplomová práca pojednáva o projektívnej rodinnej diagnostike vzhľadom na vek skúmaných osôb. Naším cieľom bolo zistiť rozdiely v Teste troch stromov medzi dvoma odlišnými vekovými skupinami. Spolu s Testom troch stromov sme administrovali Kresbu rodiny. Metódy sme administrovali 40 mladším školákom (vo veku 8 až 11 rokov) a 40 adolescentom (vo veku 17 až 19 rokov). Kresby sme kvantitatívne a kvalitatívne spracovali. V teoretickej časti sa venujeme rodine a charakteristike mladšieho školského veku a adolescencie. Ďalej rozoberáme projektívnu diagnostiku, s dôrazom na kresbu. Výsledky nášho výskumu ukazujú signifikantné rozdiely v niektorých znakoch testu troch stromov medzi mladšími školákmi a adolescentmi. Test troch stromov zachytáva vývinové rozdiely vo vnímaní vlastnej rodiny a seba v nej. Administrovať test troch stromov spolu s Kresbou rodiny v oboch vekových skupinách sa javí ako vhodné. V diskusii konfrontujeme naše výsledky s výsledkami iných autoriek.
