Role of credit derivatives in US mortgage crisis

Abstract:

V současné době se globální ekonomika stále potýká s důsledky americké hypoteční krize, která naplno propukla v roce 2007, a postupně z ní vznikla krize finanční a nakonec i ekonomická, která ovlivnila vývoj ekonomik celého světa. Příčiny, které vedly ke krizi takového rozsahu, se stále hledají. Nejčastěji skloňovaným viníkem ale přesto zůstávají inovace na finančních trzích, které vedly k vytvoření komplexních nástrojů, jakými jsou např. Kreditní deriváty. Cílem práce je popsat kreditní deriváty a průběh obchodování, analyzovat situaci na hypotečním trhu v USA, určit jakou roli v něm mělo obchodování s kreditními deriváty a jakou roli měly ostatní faktory, které ke krizi přispěly.

Abstract:

Credit derivatives are one of the most often discussed instruments which influenced the mortgage crisis in USA and consequently also the global financial crisis. Credit derivatives are complex instruments. The aim of this thesis is to describe credit derivatives, dealing with them, analyse the situation on the housing market in USA, determine what the role of credit derivatives in the crisis was and analyse other factors, which contributed to the creation of the crisis.
