Neuropsychical endurance of the nurses on the children's ward

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit stupeň neuropsychické zátěže u sester, které pracují na pediatrických jednotkách intenzivní a resuscitační péče. A tu porovnat se zátěží u sester z pediatrických standardních oddělení. Navíc bylo cílem zjistit, zda mají roky praxe na jednotce intenzivní péče vliv na jednotlivé odpovědi v dotazníku. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 103 sester z pediatrických jednotek intenzivní a resuscitační péče z Fakultní nemocnice Hradec Králové a Fakultní nemocnice Ostrava. Dotazníkové šetření probíhalo v listopadu a prosinci 2009. Výzkum byl realizován pomocí standardizovaného Meisterova dotazníku k hodnocení neuropsychické zátěže. Výsledky: Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že všeobecné sestry z pediatrických jednotek intenzivní a resuscitační péče vykazují 1. stupeň neuropsychické zátěže. To znamená zátěž, při které nehrozí ohrožení zdraví, subjektivního stavu a výkonnosti. Dále bylo zjištěno, že u sester z pediatrických jednotek intenzivní péče z Fakultní nemocnice v Hradci Králové a sester z pediatrických standardních oddělení stejné nemocnice se stupeň neuropsychické zátěže neliší. Při hodnocení jednotlivých položek z dotazníku nebyl prokázán vliv roků praxe na jednotlivé odpovědi. Závěr: Hodnocení a přehled o působení neuropsychické zátěže na pracovišti je důležitou součástí prevence syndromu vyhoření a celkové pracovní pohody u zdravotnických pracovníků, zvláště u sester na dětských odděleních. Proto je třeba nabízet sestrám pomoc ve formě rozhovorů, supervize, možnosti setkání s psychologem a další. Klíčová slova: neuropsychická zátěž, sestra, jednotka intenzivní péče, syndrom vyhoření.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim was to determine the degree of neuropsychic burden for nurses working in paediatric intensive care and resuscitation. Then compare the burden of paediatric nurses in standard units. The secondary question was to determine whether years of experience in the intensive care unit influence the individual responses to the questionnaire. Methods: The research sample was consisted of 103 nurses from the paediatric intensive unit and resuscitation of the University Hospital Hradec Králové and University Hospital Ostrava. Questionnaire survey was in progress from November to December 2009. The research was conducted by using a standardized questionnaire to assess the Meister neuropsychic burden. Results: The disquisition found that nurses from the paediatric intensive unit and resuscitation embody 1st degree of neuropsychic burden. This means the load at which there is no health risk, performance and subjective state. Furthermore, it was found that in the case of neuropsychic burden there is no difference between the nurses of the paediatric intensive care unit of the University Hospital Hradec Kralove and the nurses from the standard paediatric department of the same hospital. During the assessment it was found that the years of experience in the intensive care unit do not influence on the individual responses in the questionnaire. Conclusion: The evaluation and review of action neuropsychic burden in the workplace is an important part of prevention of burnout and overall well-being of the workers in health service, particularly for nurses at the paediatric units. Therefore, nurses should be offered with assistance in the form of interviews, supervision, the possibility of meeting with a psychologist and others.
