Czech education system from the perspective of immigrants parents

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem Český vzdělávací systém pohledem rodičů cizinců se věnuje tématu pohledu rodičů cizinců na český vzdělávací systém. Cílem této práce je zjistit, jak rodiče cizinci vnímají vzdělávání svých dětí v českých základních školách. V rámci kvalitativního výzkumu bylo provedeno sedm rozhovorů s rodiči cizinci, kteří mají alespoň jedno dítě v české základní škole a zároveň má jejich dítě zkušenost se vzdělávacím systémem v jejich rodné zemi. Získaná data představují pohled rodičů cizinců na český vzdělávací systém. Dále prezentuji výsledky týkající se komunikace mezi rodiči cizinci a učiteli. Práce také poskytuje data týkající se toho, jak jsou rodiče cizinci schopni pomáhat svým dětem s domácí přípravou nebo jak jsou cizinecké děti na českých školách zatěžované.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis called “The Czech Education System from the Point of View of Foreign Parents” focuses on the issue of the Czech education system from the viewpoint of foreign parents. This thesis aims to determine how foreign parents perceive the education of their children in the Czech primary schools. The qualitative research includes seven interviews conducted with foreign parents who have at least one child attending a Czech school as well as having experience with the education system in their country of origin. Observed data represent the view of foreign parents on the Czech education system. Furthermore, the results concerning the communication between foreign parents and teachers are presented. Moreover, the thesis provides data regarding the ability of foreign parents to help their children with home preparation for school as well as how demanding it is for foreign pupils to meet requirements in Czech schools.
