Ladislav Fuks: Mr. Theodor Mundstock (Comparison of the theatre performance of J. A. Haidler and the novel of Fuks)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se snaží o komparaci divadlního představení J. A. Haidlera a Fuksova románu Pan Theodor Mundstock. Zvláštní pozornost je přitom věnována struktuře děje, času a prostoru, v němž se děj odehrává, hlavní postavě, jazyku a tématům obou děl, které jsou podrobeny důkladné analýze a následně komparovány. Dále se práce věnuje důsledkům vyplývajícím z rozdílů mezi literární předlohou a inscenací. V práci jsou definovány problematické pojmy dramatizace, monodrama a divadlo jednoho herce. Jsou zde shromážděny a zhodnoceny kritické ohlasy reagující na literární dílo i jeho adaptaci. Přílohou je autorizovaný rozhovor s J. A. Haidlerem věnovaný především genezi představení, režijnímu záměru a obsahu představení Pan Theodor Mundstock.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is trying to compare J. A. Haidler´s theatre performance and L. Fuks´s novel Mr. Theodore Mundstock. It is focused especially on a structure of the story, time and place, where the story is situated, main character, language and themes of both the theatre and the novel. These items are analyzed in depth and then a comparison follows. This thesis also deals with outcomes of the differences between these two pieces of art. Problematic terms as dramatization, monodrama and one-man show are defined. All critical reviews reflecting both the performance and the novel are collected and evaluated. A supplement is an authorized interview with J. A. Haidler dedicated to genesis of the performance, directorial intent and content of the performance Mr. Theodore Mundstock.
