Comparison of objective and subjective evaluation of graphomotor skills in children with dysgraphia and hyperactive attention deficit disorder.

Abstract:

Stále více dětí se potýká s potížemi se psaním. U dětí s dysgrafií je často přidružená i hyperaktivní porucha pozornosti (ADHD), právě z tohoto důvodu jsme se rozhodli porovnat mezi sebou tyto dvě skupiny dětí. Existuje zatím pouze jedna studie (Rosenblum et al., 2003), která zkoumá rozdíly v narušené grafomotorice u tří skupin: u dětí s dysgrafií, u dětí s ADHD a u dětí s typickým vývojem grafomotoriky. Cílem práce byla částečná replikace studie na české vzorce. Dalším cílem bylo srovnání subjektivního a objektivního hodnocení. K subjektivnímu hodnocení jsme použili tři typy dotazníků: Beknopte Beoordelingsmethode voor Kinder Handschriften (BHK; Hamstra-Bletz et al., 1987), její zkrácenou verzi SOS (Van Waelvelde et al., 2012), Handwriting legibility scale (HLS; Barnet et al., 2018) a sebeposuzovací dotazník Handwriting Proficiency Screening Questionnaire (HPSQ-C; Rosenblum a Gafni-Lachter, 2015). Parametry objektivního hodnocení byly stanoveny na základě získaných dat z digitalizačního tabletu, celkem bylo stanoveno osm parametrů: celková doba trvání, celková doba trvání na povrchu, počet přerušení, medián doby trvání pauz, medián tlaku, medián rychlosti při pohybu na podložce, počet změn rychlosti, celkový počet překřížení trajektorie při pohybu na podložce. Výzkumný soubor celkem tvořilo 75 dětí, 21 chlapců (28 %) a 9 dívek (12 %) ze třetí třídy, 43 chlapců ze čtvrté třídy (57,33 %) a 2 chlapci z páté třídy (2,67 %). Děti byly rozděleny na základě jejich diagnózy do tří skupin, které byly genderově a věkově vyvážené. Nejvýznamnější rozdíl v porovnání objektivního hodnocení se prokázal u parametru medián tlaku mezi skupinou dětí s ADHD a porovnávající skupinou a zároveň mezi dětmi s ADHD a skupinou dětí s dysgrafií. Rozdíl v subjektivním hodnocení byl potvrzen mezi skupinou dětí s dysgrafií a porovnávací skupinou u dotazníku BHK: SOS a HLS. Vztah mezi subjektivním a objektivním hodnocení se neprokázal.

Abstract:

More and more children are struggling with writing difficulties. Children with dysgraphia often have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which is why we decided to compare these two groups of children. There is only one study so far (Rosenblum et al., 2003) that examines the differences in impaired graphomotor development in three groups: children with dysgraphia, children with ADHD, and children with typical graphomotor development. The aim of the work was a partial replication of the study on Czech samples. Another aim was to compare subjective and objective assessments. For the subjective assessment we used three types of questionnaires: the Beknopte Beoordelingsmethode voor Kinder Handschriften (BHK; Hamstra-Bletz et al., 1987), its short version SOS (Van Waelvelde et al., 2012), the Handwriting Legibility Scale (HLS; Barnet et al., 2018) and the Handwriting Proficiency Screening Questionnaire (HPSQ- C; Rosenblum and Gafni-Lachter, 2015). Parameters for objective assessment were determined based on the data obtained from the digitizing tablet, and a total of eight para-meters were determined: total duration, total duration on the surface, number of pauses, median pause duration, median pressure, median speed while moving on the mat, number of speed changes, and total number of trajectory crossings while moving on the mat. The study population consisted of a total of 75 children, 21 boys (28%) and 9 girls (12%) from the third grade, 43 boys from the fourth grade (57.33%) and 2 boys from the fifth grade (2.67%). The children were divided into three groups based on their diagnosis, which were gender and age balanced. The most significant difference in the comparison of objective scores was shown by the parameter median pressure between the group of children with ADHD and the control group, and also between the group of children with ADHD and the group of children with dysgraphia. The difference in subjective ratings was confirmed between the group of children with dysgraphia and the comparison group for the BHK: SOS and HLS questionnaire. The relationship between subjective and objective ratings was not demonstrated.
