Conversion of the area of former Jezdecka barracks in Prostejov to a public park

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem brownfields a jejich přeměnou na městské parky. Jako modelový příklad je zvolen postmilitární objekt jezdeckých kasáren v Prostějově. V rámci literární rešerše došlo k vytyčení základních pojmů, se kterými autorka pracovala. Následně byla prozkoumána a sepsána problematika městské zeleně a současné pojetí modro-zelené infrastruktury sídel v návaznosti na klimatickou změnu a s důrazem na městské parky. Krátce byla shrnuta historie vývoje městské zeleně a parků. Literární část se dále zabývala tématem konverzí areálů brownfields. Byl přehledně shrnut vývoj zájmu o konverze opuštěných objektů a bylo poukázáno na hrozby a výhody, které mohou touto činností vyvstat. Na pěti referenčních příkladech byly ilustrovány různé přístupy ke konverzím a k pojetím městských parků odpovídajícím modelovému území. Na závěr rešeršní části byly definovány zásady pro postup práce krajinářského architekta při navrhování konverzí brownfields na městské parky. V analytické části byly zpracovány mapové a textové podklady k modelovému území, byly provedeny terénní průzkumy a rozbory územně plánovacích podkladů. Pozornost byla věnována především zodpovězení otázky, zda město Prostějov potřebuje nový veřejný park. Důraz se kladl na šetření historie území z dostupných literárních pramenů, vytyčení přírodních podmínek a zhodnocení současného stavu modelového objektu včetně vegetace. Cenné podklady pro argumentaci potřeby nové zelené plochy ve městě představovaly dokumenty územně plánovacích podkladů a záznamy Českého hydrometeorologického úřadu o znečištění ovzduší. Výstupem analytické části je problémový výkres znázorňující pozitivní i negativní stránky modelové lokality, potenciální přínosy a hrozby.Na závěr byla zpracována architektonická studie konverze jezdeckých kasáren na základě stanovených východisek. Návrh je zaměřený na znázornění historické stopy a funkce, spojuje současné i budoucí požadavky na obsah a poslání městského parku a pracuje s propojením parku na systém zelené infrastruktury Prostějova.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of brownfields and their transformation into urban parks. As a model example, a post-militia building of equestrian barracks in Prostějov is chosen.As part of the literary research, the basic concepts with which the author worked were set out. Subsequently, the issue of urban greenery and the current concept of blue-green infrastructure of settlements were explored and drawn up in the wake of climate change and with an emphasis on urban parks. The history of urban greenery and parks was briefly summarized. The literary section also dealt with the topic of conversion of brownfields campuses. The development of interest in the conversion of abandoned objects was clearly summarised and pointed to the threats and benefits that may arise from this activity. The five reference examples illustrated different approaches to conversions and to the concepts of urban parks corresponding to model territory. At the end of the research section, the principles for the process of the work of the landscape architect in the design of brownfields conversions to urban parks were defined.In the analytical part, map and text documents were processed for the model territory, field surveys and analyses of planning documents were carried out. The main focus was on answering the question of whether the city of Prostějov needs a new public park. Emphasis was placed on the investigation of the history of the territory from the available literary sources, the setting of natural conditions and the evaluation of the current state of the model building, including vegetation. Valuable evidence for arguing the need for a new green area in the city was presented by documents of planning documents and records of the Czech Hydrometeorological Office on air pollution. The output of the analytical part is a problem drawing showing both the positive and negative aspects of the model site, the potential benefits and threats.Finally, an architectural study of the conversion of equestrian barracks was prepared on the basis of established starting points. The design is aimed at depicting the historical footprint and function, combines current and future requirements for the content and mission of the city park and works with the connection of the park to the system of green infrastructure of Prostějov.
