Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na dystopické prvky v dystopickém fantasy románu pro mladé dospělé Throne of Glass americké autorky Sarah J. Maas. Dále se detailněji věnuje také fenoménu ženské bojovnice v dystopické literatuře pro mladé dospělé. V prvních dvou kapitolách je krátce představena práce Sarah J. Maas. Následně tyto kapitoly vyzdvihují schopnost literatury pro mladé dospělé vzdělávat čtenáře o důležitých společenských problémech zábavnou formou a zároveň je také motivovat k vlastní tvorbě. Třetí kapitola blíže analyzuje některé dystopické prvky románu jako je například prostředí, totalitní systém a cenzura, porušování základních lidských práv atd. Čtvrtá kapitola je věnována fenoménu ženské bojovnice v dystopické literatuře pro mladé a možným vlivům tohoto typu literatury na mladé čtenáře. Zároveň tato kapitola vysvětluje proč je hlavní postava, Celaena Sardothien, zástupcem tohoto fenoménu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis aims to examine the dystopian elements in the young adult dystopian fantasy novel Throne of Glass by an American author Sarah J. Maas and focuses in particular on the phenomenon of a female warrior in young adult dystopian literature. In the first two chapters the thesis briefly introduces the work of Sarah J. Maas and highlights the ability of young adult literature to educate young readers about some of the major current and historical issues in the society, as well as to motivate the young adults to produce their own literary work. The third chapter analyses some of the dystopian elements in the novel such as the environment, the totalitarian system and censorship, the violation of human rights, and more. Finally, the fourth chapter is dedicated to the phenomenon of the female warrior in young adult dystopian literature, its possible positive influence on the young readers and how the main character of the novel – Celaena Sardothien – is a representative of this phenomenon.
