Education of foreigners in the Czech Republic with a focus on teaching the Czech language

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Vzdělávání cizinců v České republice se zaměřením na výuku českého jazyka se zabývá postavením a možnostmi cizinců v českém vzdělávacím systému. Práce je rozdělena do sedmi kapitol. První z nich je věnována legislativním opatřením upravující pobyt a vzdělávání cizinců v České republice. Ve druhé kapitole se nachází stručný popis migrační situace ve světě i u nás. Třetí kapitola je věnována statistikám počtu dětí cizinců navštěvující české školy. Čtvrtá kapitola se zabývá kulturou, kulturním kapitálem a sociokulturním kontextem. V páté kapitole jsou představeny jednotlivé jazykové úrovně. V šesté kapitole se nachází vysvětlení důležitých pojmů týkajících se výuky češtiny jako cizího jazyka, např. čeština jako mateřský, cizí a druhý jazyk, dítě nebo žák s odlišným mateřským jazykem. Poslední kapitola se zabývá přímo cizinci v českém vzdělávacím systému – dospělé osoby žádající o trvalý pobyt či státní občanství a děti začleňující se do školního kolektivu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis entitled Education of foreigners in the Czech republic with a focus on teaching the Czech language deals with the position and possibilities of foreigners in the Czech educational system. The thesis is divided into seven chapters. The first one is devoted to legislative measures regulating the stay and education of foreigners in the Czech republic. The second chapter contains a brief description of the migration situation in the world and in our country. The third chapter is dedicated to statistics on the number of children of foreigners attending Czech schools. The fourth chapter deals with culture, cultural capital and sociocultural context. The fifth chapter introduces the individual language levels. The sixth chapter contains the explanation of important concepts related to the teaching of Czech as a foreign language, for example Czech as a mother tongue, foreign language and second language, a child or a pupil with a different mother tongue. The last chapter deals with the foreigners in the Czech educational system – adults applying for permanent residence or citizenship and children integrating into the school group.
