Perception of the position of the school special educational needs teacher from the perspective of the elementary school pupils

Abstract:

Školní speciální pedagog je v současné době často diskutovaným fenoménem a jeho role ve školním poradenském pracovišti není stále samozřejmostí v každé základní škole. Vzhledem k současným cílům inkluzivního vzdělávání však nabírá na důležitosti a jeho pomoc a péče žákům se speciálními vzdělávacími potřebami může být v mnoha ohledech velmi prospěšná a žádoucí. Úvodní část práce poskytla základní vhled do dané problematiky. Její součástí bylo také shromáždění informací formou prostudování současného stavu poznání, které zatím není příliš rozsáhlé. Byly zmíněny některé výzkumné studie či příspěvky, které se alespoň částečně dotýkaly předkládaného tématu. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce bylo zjistit, jak vnímají žáci základních škol tuto poměrně novou pracovní pozici ve škole. Dílčími cíli bylo identifikovat proměnné, které by toto vnímání mohly významně ovlivnit s ohledem na jejich věk, pohlaví, zkušenost s postižením v rodině, žáka s postižením ve třídě, školní klima. Výzkumný vzorek byl vytvořen z 213 žáků 5. - 9. ročníků základních škol. Podmínkou výběru bylo působení školního speciálního pedagoga na oslovených základních školách a v každé vybrané třídě se musel vyskytovat alespoň jeden žák se speciálními vzdělávacími potřebami. Jako výzkumný nástroj byla zvolena metoda dotazníku se škálovými položkami. Data byla statisticky zpracována. Z výzkumného šetření vyplynulo, že žáci vnímají pracovní pozici školního speciálního pedagoga pozitivně a prokázali poměrně vysokou znalost o této relativně nové funkci ve škole, o jejím zaměření, náplni práce a možnostech poskytované podpory žákům se SVP, ale i dalším žákům školy, kteří pomoc potřebují. Nejvýznamnějšími faktory ovlivňujícími toto vnímání se projevily věk respondentů a školní klima. V tomto kontextu jsou v závěru práce uvedena některá doporučení pro pedagogickou praxi a náměty pro rozšíření tohoto výzkumu.

Abstract:

The school special education teacher is currently a frequently discussed phenomenon and his role in the school counselling center is still not a standard matter in every elementary school. However, given the current goals of inclusive education, it is raising in importance and its support and care of pupils with special educational needs can be very beneficial and desirable in many aspects. The introductory part of the thesis provided a basic insight into given issue. It also included gathering information by studying the current state of knowledge, which is not very extensive yet. There were mentioned some research studies or contributions, which at least partially elaborated the presented topic. The main aim of this diploma thesis was to find out how pupils at elementary school perceive this relatively new job position at school. The sub-objectives were to identify variables that could significantly influence such perception with regard to their age, gender, experience with disability in the family, disabled pupil in the class and school climate. The research sample contained 213 pupils of 5th to 9th grades of elementary schools. The condition of the selection was an engagement of school special education teacher at the addressed elementary schools and there needed to be at least one student with special educational needs in each selected class. As the research method was chosen a questionnaire with scaled measures. The data were statistically processed. The research concluded that pupils perceive a position of school special education teacher positively and demonstrated a relatively high knowledge of such relatively new function at school, about its focus, job description and possibilities of providing support to pupils with SEN and also to other children of the school who need support. The most important factors influencing explored perception were the age of respondents and the school climate. In this context, there are presented certain recommendations for pedagogical practice and suggestions for the extension of this research at the end of the thesis.
