CBT therapy and treatment of drug addiction

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá prozkoumáním potenciálu kognitivně-behaviorální terapie (KBT) v kontextu léčby závislostí, zda je v této problematice účinná a jak tuto terapeutickou metodu vnímají odborníci z praxe. Vzhledem k rostoucí prevalenci závislostních poruch a potřebě efektivních terapeutických intervencí se práce zaměřuje na potenciál KBT, který by mohl nabídnout účinnou cestu pro zotavení ze závislostí. Teoretická část práce poskytuje ucelený přehled o principu a vývoji KBT, charakterizuje problematiku drog a závislostí a zkoumá modely závislosti tak, aby poskytla komplexní teoretický rámec. Praktická část práce využívá kvalitativní metodologii, konkrétně polostrukturované rozhovory s odborníky z praxe, k identifikaci klíčových faktorů, které ovlivňují účinnost KBT v léčbě závislostí. Analýza dat odhaluje, že kombinace KBT s dalšími terapeutickými přístupy a její adaptace na individuální potřeby jedinců může její účinnost značně zvýšit. Výsledky práce přispívají k odborné diskuzi o léčbě závislostí a nabízejí praktické návrhy pro terapeuty a klinické pracovníky. Práce také identifikuje oblasti pro budoucí výzkum, zejména potřebu dalšího prozkoumání kombinace KBT s dalšími terapeutickými metodami a hlubšího pochopení role traumat v procesu léčby závislostí.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the potential of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in the context of addiction treatment, whether it is effective in this context, and how practitioners perceive this therapeutic method. Given the increasing prevalence of addictive disorders and the need for effective therapeutic interventions, the thesis focuses on the potential of CBT to offer an effective pathway for addiction recovery. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the principle and development of CBT, characterizes the issue of drugs and addictions, and examines models of addiction to provide a comprehensive theoretical framework. The practical part of the thesis uses qualitative methodology, specifically semi-structured interviews with practitioners, to identify key factors that influence the effectiveness of CBT in addiction treatment. Data analysis reveals that integrating CBT with other therapeutic approaches and adapting it to the individual's needs can greatly enhance its effectiveness. The results of this thesis contribute to the professional discussion on addiction treatment and offer practical suggestions for therapists and clinicians. The work also identifies areas for future research, particularly the need to further explore the integration of CBT with other therapeutic modalities and a deeper understanding of the role of trauma in the addiction treatment process.
