Influence of investment incentives on the development of Czech regions.

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zjistit, zda investiční pobídky udělené v regionech České republiky (kromě hlavního města Prahy) jsou orientovány tak, aby vedly ke zmírnění růstu regionálních rozdílů. V teoretické části byla využita odborná literatura a elektronické zdroje, které vymezují problematiku investičních pobídek a jiných pojmů související s tímto tématem. V praktické části se aplikovala metoda deskripce a regionální komparativní metoda v porovnání regionálních procesů mezi regiony České republiky. Ke zjištění skutečností byla použita časová řada za roky 1998 až 2017, která se rozdělila na dvě sledovaná období. Dále diplomová práce obsahuje výpočty korelačních koeficientů, které porovnávají vývoj makroekonomických ukazatelů regionů s prostorovými rozdíly rozmístění investičních pobídek. Výsledky indikují, že udělené investiční pobídky neměly vliv na zmírnění růstu regionálních rozdílů mezi sledovanými regiony. Důsledkem bylo, že investiční pobídky nebyly prioritně čerpány v zaostalých regionech, protože podobný rozsah této podpory byl čerpán i v ostatních sledovaných regionech.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to find out whether the investment incentives granted in regions of the Czech Republic (except the capital city of Prague) are oriented in such way that they will lead to mitigating the growth of regional differences. In the theoretical part, academic literature and electronic resources that define the problematics of the investment incetives and other terms related to this topic have been used. In the practical part, the method of description has been applied, as well as the regional comparative method in comparison of regional processes among the regions of the Czech Republic. A timeline starting from 1998 to 2017 divided into two monitored periods has been used in order to determine the facts. Further observations of the thesis contain calculations of correlation coefficients, which compare the development of macroeconomic indicators of regions with spatial differences in the deployment of investment incentives. The results indicate that the granted investment incentives did not have any effect on reducing the growth of the regional disparities between the monitored regions. As a consequence of this, the investment incentives were not primarily drawn in the underdeveloped regions, since similar extent of this support was drawn also in other monitored regions.
