The Issue of Identity in the Works of Marius von Mayenburg

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem identity v díle Maria von Mayenburga a zkoumá jej ve vybraných hrách. Východiskem pro teoretické i praktické zkoumání tématu identity je Mayenburgova hra Perplex. Téma je zkoumáno především z režijního a dramaturgického pohledu, oblastmi sociologie a psychologie se zabývá spíše okrajově. Tyto disciplíny slouží v práci jako opěrné body, nikoli jako nástroje zkoumání. Praktickou část bakalářské práce tvoří reflexe režijně-dramaturgické koncepce a zkoušení hry Perplex. Důraz je kladen na propojení teoretické a praktické části práce v tvůrčím dialogu. Zachycuje složité hledání výrazových prostředků, které by nejlépe vyjádřily neuchopitelnost textu, zejména tekutou identitu jeho postav, tvorbu režijní kompozice jakožto dovršení hereckého jednání, limitovaného pouze jednoduchým architektonickým rozvržení prostoru, v němž proměnlivou identitu postav dotvářely výrazné výtvarné znaky.

Abstract:

The bachelor´s thesis focuses on the issue of identity in the works of Maria von Mayenburg and examines the issue of identity in several of his plays. Mayenburg´s play Perplex serves as a starting point for theoretical and practical examination of the issue of identity. The issue is mostly examined from the directing and dramaturgy point of view, whilst the disciplines of sociology and psychology are discussed only marginally and serve more as reference points, not tools of examination. The practical part of the thesis reflects the actual directing and dramaturgy concept and rehearsals of Perplex. The emphasis is put on the link between the theoretical and practical part of the thesis as part of a creative dialogue. The painstaking search for means of expression is discussed in order to express the difficult-to-grasp text as best as possible. In particular with regard to the liquid identity of the main characters and the creation of composition for direction to enhance actors´ performance that is limited by the simple architectural design of the space where the changing identity of characters is completed by dominant artistic characteristics.
