Sustainability as a trend in the chemical industry with a focus on the company Henkel

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na přístupy k udržitelnosti společnosti Henkel a jejich konkurentů v chemickém průmyslu. Poskytuje přehled aktuálních trendů a formuluje doporučení, která mohou korporace využít k efektivnímu zlepšení svého dopadu na životní prostředí. Hlavním cílem práce je zmapovat přístup společnosti Henkel k udržitelnosti a porovnat ho s konkurencí na základě vybraných environmentálních a sociálních ukazatelů. Následně navrhuje kroky na zlepšení jejich přístupu s ohledem na spotřebitelské preference a aktuální trendy. Metodika zahrnuje komparativní analýzu a hloubkové rozhovory. Teoretická část se věnuje trendům udržitelnosti v chemickém průmyslu, zelenému marketingu a regulacím Evropské unie. Praktická část hodnotí výkonnost společnosti Henkel a dvou vybraných konkurentů s důrazem na emise, spotřebu vody a inovace obalových materiálů. Závěry identifikují klíčové silné a slabé stránky ve strategii firmy Henkel a navrhují způsoby, jak zlepšit udržitelné praktiky.

Abstract:

The master’s thesis focuses on the sustainability approaches of Henkel and its competitors in the chemical industry. It provides an overview of current trends and formulates recommendations that corporations can use to effectively improve their environmental impact. The main goal of the thesis is to map Henkel's approach to sustainability and compare it with the competition based on selected environmental and social indicators. It then proposes steps to improve their approaches with regard to consumer preferences and current trends. The methodology includes comparative analysis and in-depth interviews. The theoretical part addresses sustainability trends in the chemical industry, green marketing, and European Union regulations. The practical part evaluates the performance of Henkel and two selected competitors with an emphasis on emissions, water consumption, and innovations in packaging materials. The conclusions identify key strengths and weaknesses in Henkel's strategy and suggest ways to improve sustainable practices.
