Stress and burnout syndrome in high-stress occupations

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je zmapování zdrojů stresu a četnosti výskytu syndromu vyhoření u vybraných vysoce zátěžových profesí, včetně moderujících faktorů jeho vzniku.Teoretická část je zaměřena na definování pojmu stres, jeho dělení a objasnění zdrojů v podobě stresorů. Dále také na pojem syndrom vyhoření, příčiny jeho vzniku, fáze průběhu a způsoby projevů. Poslední teoretická kapitola se věnuje popisu copingových strategií a stress managementu.V empirické části jsou pomocí dotazníkového šetření zjišťovány zdroje stresu u vybraných vysoce zátěžových profesí jakožto moderující faktory syndromu vyhoření, který je u nich dále zkoumán pomocí MBI dotazníku. Dále je u výzkumného vzorku proveden test odolnosti vůči zátěži a také je zmapováno využívání copingových strategií a stress managementu.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to map the sources of stress and the frequency of burnout syndrome in selected high-stress professions, including moderating factors of its origin.The theoretical part is focused on the definition of the term stress, its categories and explanation of its sources in the form of stressors. Furthermore, it focuses on the term burnout syndrome, the causes of its development, stages and manifestations. The last theoretical chapter is devoted to the description of coping strategies and stress management.In the empirical part, the questionnaire survey identifies sources of stress in selected highly stressed professions as moderating factors of the burnout syndrome, which is further explored using the MBI questionnaire. The research sample is furthermore tested in terms of resistance to stress. The use of coping strategies and stress management is also mapped.
