The Political Situation as the Subject of Prosaic Works after 1989

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zaměřuje na díla reflektující politickou situaci po roce 1989. V úvodu stručně charakterizuje vývojové tendence polistopadové prózy, v hlavní části se poté zaměřuje na konkrétní politicky laděná prozaická díla: dva romány Evy Kantůrkové - Nečas a Nečasův román, Báječná léta s Klausem Michala Viewegha, román Martina Nezvala Anna sekretářka, Paměti poslance parlamentu Miloše Urbana a Kumprechtovu broučkiádu Pavla Vernera. V těchto vybraných dílech porovnává zobrazení fenoménů nové doby (hodnocení komunismu a jeho srovnání s raným kapitalismem, parlamentní demokracii, vnímání znovunabyté svobody, trendy podnikání, cestování...), zobrazení politických osobností (Václava Havla, Václava Klause...) i událostí (včetně revolučního roku 1989, kuponové privatizace...), všímá si rozdílného zpracování děl, různorodosti žánrů a reflektuje vztah jednotlivých autorů k současné politické situaci. Závěrem jednotlivá díla hodnotí a snaží se nalézt důvody, proč tyto romány vyvolaly u většiny literárních kritiků a recenzentů spíše negativní reakce.

Abstract:

This bachelorś diploma dissertation focuses on the works reflecting the political situation after 1989. In the introduction, it briefly characterizes the development tendencies of post-November prosaic literature. In the main part, it deals with the particular politically coloured prosaic works: two novels by Eva Kantůrková - Nečas and Nečasův román, Báječná léta s Klausem by Michal Viewegh, the novel by Martin Nezval Anna sekretářka, Paměti poslance parlamentu of Miloš Urban, and Kumprechtova broučkiáda by Pavel Verner. In these chosen works, it compares the depiction of the phenomena of the new age (the assessment of communism and its comparison with early capitalism, parliamentary democracy, perceiving the freedom regained, the trends of business, traveling etc.), portraying both political personalities (Václav Havel, Václav Klaus and others) and events (including the revolutionary year 1989, coupon privatization and other phenomena). It notices the different making of works, the variability of genres, and reflects the relation of different writers to the contemporary political situation. In conclusion, it judges the particular works and tries to find out the reasons for prevailing negative reactions of most literary reviewers.
