The aim of this thesis is to analyze the portrayal of the African American community in Toni Morrison’s novels. The thesis focuses on the novels The Bluest Eye (1970), Beloved (1987) and Home (2012). In the theoretical part, the thesis introduces cultural and historical background of African American communities and Morrison’s approach to its depiction in her novels.
