Abstract:
The goal of this thesis is to analyze the translation of irrealia, or expressions refer-ring to realities specific to a fictional world, in an unofficial Czech localization made for the video game Disco Elysium. In terms of translation theory, the thesis is based on the skopos theory of Hans Vermeer, Lawrence Venuti’s concepts of domestication and foreigniza-tion, and works on localization by Anthony …more
