Postmodernism and art - Characters of P. K. Feyerabend's thinking in the work of Alfred Jarry

Abstract:

Tato práce je zaměřena na popsání vztahu mezi modernismem a postmodernismem a to jak v oblasti filozofického myšlení, tak v oblasti umění. Na pracích P. K. Feyerabenda a A. Jarryho jsem se pokusil ukázat, jak oba autoři ovlivnili budoucí změny ve svých oborech, které nakonec dospěly až k současnému postmodernímu stavu. Nejprve jsou v práci přiblíženy hlavní myšlenky Feyerabendova díla, především jeho anarchistického pojetí vědecké metodologie. Tímto se v jeho díle objevuje postmodernistická pluralita. Dále jsem se zaměřil na dílo A. Jarryho, který do jisté míry předcházel avantgardním uměleckým stylům, které svým způsobem také přinášejí pluralitu do umění a podporují individualizaci. Následně je popsán vztah mezi modernismem a postmodernismem, jejich počátky a stručný vývoj, který je doplňován ukázkami znaků myšlení obou zmiňovaných autorů.

Abstract:

In this work I focused on describing the relationship between modernism and postmodernism, in the area of philosophical thoughts as in the area of arts. On the work of Paul Karl Feyerabend and on the work of Alfred Jarry, I tried to show how both writers influenced future changes in their respective fields, that finally reached to the current postmodern condition. First I approached the main ideas of Feyerabend's work, especially his anarchist conception of scientific methodology. By this postmodern pluralism appears in his work. Then I focused on the work of A. Jarry, who to some extent preceded avant-garde artistic styles, which in a way also bring pluralism in the arts and promote individualization. Then I described the relationship between modernism and postmodernism, their origins and brief development. This relationship was complemented and demonstrated by thinking samples of both mentioned authors.
