Analysis of the approach to corporate social responsibility in comparison with the requirements of GRI standard

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou plnění požadavků standardu GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) ve vybraných firmách. Standard GRI je považován za mezinárodně uznávaný nástroj pro tvorbu zpráv o společenské odpovědnosti (CSR -- Corporate Social Responsibility). Teoretická část je nejprve zaměřena na charakteristiku konceptu společenské odpovědnosti firem a na oblasti, které zahrnuje a dále přibližuje různé možnosti hodnocení aktivit na poli CSR. Největší prostor je věnován standardu GRI a jeho nejaktuálnější verzi pokynů pro reportování G3.1. Tyto pokyny jsou podkladem pro analýzu a vyhodnocení zpráv o společenské odpovědnosti. Výsledkem analýzy je nalezení nedostatků a shrnutí významných kroků, které by měly být pro firmy vodítkem, jak lépe a efektivněji přistupovat k reportingu.

Abstract:

The Master's thesis deals with the analysis of performance requirements of the standard GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) in selected companies. Standard GRI is considered as an internationally recognized tool for creating reports on corporate social responsibility (CSR). The theoretical part is initially focused on the characteristics of the concept of corporate social responsibility and the included areas, afterwards it describes variety of options how to assess CSR activities. The largest space is devoted to the GRI standard and its most current version of guidelines for reporting G3.1. These guidelines are the background for analysis and evaluation of CSR reports. The result of the analysis is to find shortages and to summarize important steps which should be a guide for companies how to approach to the reporting in better and more efficient way.
