Assessment of developmental trends and relations of unemployment in the regions of the Visegrad group

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřená na popis vývoje míry nezaměstnanosti a dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti v regionech soudržnosti Visegrádské čtyřky. V práci jsou rozebrány různé druhy nezaměstnanosti s jejím ekonomickým a sociálním dopadem a přirozená míra nezaměstnanosti. Cílem práce je za pomoci faktorové analýzy rozlišit trendy ve vývoji ukazatelů nezaměstnanosti s následným využitím různých druhů exponenciálního vyrovnávání k modelování předpovědí pro roky 2020–2021 s dalším porovnáním se skutečností během kovidové krize v České a Slovenské republice. Faktorová analýza s rotací varimax poskytuje uspokojující rozlišení průběhů všech proměnných. Na druhou stranu bodové i intervalové odhady předpovědí pomocí exponenciálního vyrovnávání jsou značně vychýlené. Odhady míry nezaměstnanosti jsou, vlivem korona krize začínající v prvním roku předpovědi, podhodnocené a zároveň závislé odhady podílu dlouhodobě nezaměstnaných jsou nadhodnocené. S tímto vlivem se však z empirických dat z let 2010–2019 nedalo počítat.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis is focused on mapping the development of unemployment rate and long-term unemployment in the cohesion regions of the Visegrad group. In this thesis is discussed the natural unemployment rate and different types of unemployment including their economic and social impact. The goal of this thesis is by using principal axis factoring to distinguish the trends in the development of the indicators of unemployment to later use different types of exponential smoothing to forecast its values for 2020–2021 with further comparison to real values in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during COVID crisis. Principal axis factoring using varimax rotation provides satisfying trend differentiating of all the variables. On the other hand, the point and interval estimations of forecast data using exponential smoothing are substantially deviated. The estimations of the unemployment rate are, by the influence of the COVID crisis starting in the first year of predictions, undervalued and at the same time the dependent portion of long-term unemployment is overvalued. However this influence could not have been from empiric data of 2010 to 2019 taken in consideration.
