Burnout Syndrome in Dental Hygiene

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the burnout syndrome in dental hygiene and its possible prevention given in the educational process of dental hygiene students. The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part includes basic information about the burnout syndrome, the circumstances of its occurrence, the process of the syndrome, early diagnosis and measures to prevent the burnout syndrome. Subsequently, the basis of dental hygienist’s practice is introduced along with the definition of the main factors determining the development of burnout syndrome. The practical part concluded two questionnaires. Questionnaire for dental hygienists and questionnaire for students of dental hygiene. The answers from the questionnaire aim to explain the concept of burnout syndrome to dental hygienists, to prevent the emergence of burnout syndrome in the field of dental hygiene and to find out which factors of dental hygienists’s practice may have the most significant effect on the development of burnout syndrome. Based on these findings, recommendations for practice in the field of dental hygiene and the educational process are given.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá syndrómom vyhorenia v dentálnej hygiene a jeho možnej prevencii v edukačnom procese študentov dentálnej hygieny. Práca sa skladá z dvoch častí. V teoretickej časti sú uvedené základné informácie o syndróme vyhorenia, okolnosti príznačné pre jeho vznik, priebeh samotného syndrómu, včasnú diagnostiku a opatrenia, ako možno syndrómu vyhorenia predchádzať. Následne je priblížená práca dentálnej hygieničky s vymedzením základných faktorov vplývajúcich na rozvoj syndrómu vyhorenia v tejto profesii. Praktická časť bola vykonaná pomocou dvoch dotazníkov. Dotazníka pre pracujúcich dentálnych hygienikov a dotazníka pre študentov dentálnej hygieny. Odpovede boli využité k dosiahnutiu cieľov tejto práce, a to priblížiť pojem syndróm vyhorenia dentálnym hygienikom, predchádzať vzniku syndrómu vyhorenia v odbore dentálna hygiena a zistiť, ktoré parametre v práci dentálnej hygieničky najviac vplývajú na rozvoj syndrómu vyhorenia. Na základe týchto zistení boli následne uvedené odporúčania pre prax v odbore dentálna hygiena a samotnom edukačnom procese.
