Theodor Fontane´s novel "Effi Briest" in the mirror of his films

Abstract:

The main theme of this thesis is the analysis of the film adaptation of the novel ?Effi Briest? by Theodor Fontane. The theoretical part of this work is devoted to the era of German realism, to the German film production and to the theory of the book adaptation. The practical part deals with the analysis of four main points of the novel´s plot. These points are presented in three film versions, which are created in the different times and under the different conditions.

Abstract:

Hlavní téma diplomové práce představuje analýza filmového zpracování románu ?Effi Briest? od Theodora Fontaneho. Teoretická část je věnována době německého realismu, německé filmové tvorbě a teorii knižního zfilmování. Praktická část práce se zabývá analýzou čtyř vztyčných bodů románového děje. Tyto body jsou následně ukázány ve třech filmových verzích, které vznikaly v různé době a za rozdílných podmínek.
