Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je vývoj československo-britských hospodářských vztahů mezi lety 1985-1993. Autor v bakalářské práci analyzuje vývoj vzájemných hospodářských vztahů Československa a Velké Británie v daném období na ekonomické, politické a obchodní úrovni. Předmětem práce je i představení ekonomické reality v obou zemích a zasazení práce do relevantního historického kontextu celosvětových událostí 20. století. Současně v práci rozebírá ekonomický (i politický) směr thatcherismus, který se stal v 80. letech britským fenoménem po zvolení Margaret Thatcherové, historicky první ženy v roli předsedkyně vlády Velké Británie. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je porovnat objem vzájemného zahraničního obchodu před rokem 1989, tedy v době, kdy bylo Československo součástí sféry vlivu Sovětského svazu, se situací po roce 1989, kdy se Československo nacházelo v raném období transformace ekonomiky z centrálního plánování na tržní hospodářství a na demokratické politické zřízení. Výsledky analýzy ukázaly, že po otevření československé ekonomiky vůči západním zemím došlo ke skokovému nárůstu objemu zahraničního obchodu s Velkou Británií.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor's thesis is the development of Czechoslovak-British economic relations between 1985 and 1993. The author analyses the evolution of mutual economic ties between Czechoslovakia and the United Kingdom during this period at economic, political, and foreign trade levels. The thesis also presents the economic realities in both countries and situates the research within the relevant historical context of global events in the 20th century. Concurrently, the thesis examines the economic (and political) direction of Thatcherism, which became a British phenomenon in the 1980s after the election of Margaret Thatcher, the first woman in history to serve as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The main goal of the bachelor's thesis is to compare the volume of mutual foreign trade before 1989, when Czechoslovakia was part of the Soviet Union's sphere of influence, with the situation after 1989, when Czechoslovakia was in the early stages of transitioning its economy from central planning to a market economy and a democratic political system. The analysis results showed, that after opening the Czechoslovak economy to Western countries, there was a significant increase in the volume of foreign trade with the United Kingdom.
