Analysis of the impact of international sanctions on the economy and trade relations of the Czech Republic and Russian federation with focus on the machinery and food industries

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je vyhodnotit dopady zavedení protiruských sankcí na hospodářství a makroekonomickou situaci České republiky a Ruské federace a jejich vzájemné obchodní vztahy. Druhým cílem je potvrdit, případně vyvrátit hypotézu, že tyto sankce měly na český strojírenský a potravinářský průmysl výrazně negativní vliv. V první kapitole jsou popsány ekonomiky obou zemí v době před uvalením sankcí, jakož i jejich vzájemné obchodní a investiční vztahy. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na zkoumání dopadu sankcí na obě země skrze komparaci a analýzu na základě veřejně dostupných dat a skrze porovnání s výstupy kapitoly 1. Třetí kapitola je koncipována jako případová studie, v níž jsou zkoumány dopady sankcí na konkrétní české podniky zastupující strojírenský průmysl (KOVOSVIT MAS, a.s.) a potravinářský průmysl (MADETA, a.s.).

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the impact of economic sanctions on the economy and macroeconomic situation of the Czech Republic and Russian Federation and on their mutual trade relations. The second aim of the thesis is to confirm or disproof the hypothesis that the imposition of sanctions caused severe damage to the Czech machinery and food industries. First chapter describes the economy of both countries in the time prior to the sanctions, as well as their mutual trade and investment relations. Second chapter is focused on evaluating the impact of the above-mentioned sanctions on both countries via analysis based on public accessible data and via comparison to the outcome of chapter 1. Third chapter serves as a case study in which the impacts of sanctions on the specific Czech companies representing machinery industry (KOVOSVIT MAS, a.s.) and food industry (MADETA, a.s.) are shown.
