Mental and physical addictions and their impact on professional life

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem fyzických a psychických závislostí na profesní život v pohostinství. Hlavním problémem je užívání návykových látek na pracovišti, které ovlivňují výkon zaměstnanců. V teoretické části je vymezeno pojetí a příčiny vzniku závislostí, faktory ovlivňující vznik závislostí a sociální, ekonomické a zdravotní dopady způsobené užíváním návykových látek a dále možné způsoby jejich prevence. Podrobněji je popsána problematika jednotlivých návykových látek, které se na pracovištích v oblasti pohostinství vyskytují a jejich provázanost se světem práce. Pro účely této bakalářské práce je okruh návykových látek omezen na nikotin a alkohol. Výsledkem praktické části práce je, za využití metody pozorování a rozhovorů, návrh na zlepšení pracovního prostředí z hlediska eliminace problémů spojených s užíváním návykových látek.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the impact of physical and psychological addictions on professional life in the hospitality industry. The main issue is the use of addictive substances in the workplace that affects employee performance. The theoretical part defines the concept and causes of addictions, factors influencing the origin of addictions and the social, economic and health impacts caused by substance use, as well as possible ways of prevention. The problems of individual addictive substances that occur in the hospitality workplace and their interconnection with the world of work are described in more detail. For the purposes of this bachelor thesis, the range of addictive substances is limited to nicotine and alcohol. A proposal for improving the working environment in terms of eliminating problems associated with substance use was made as a result of the practical part of the thesis using the method of observation and interviews.
