The Attitude of Social Workers and Music Therapists towards Music Therapy for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá postojem sociálních pracovníků a muzikoterapeutů k muzikoterapii s dětmi s poruchou autistického spektra. Konkrétně se jedná o pracovníky ve speciálních školách a třídách. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy týkající se poruchy autistického spektra, muzikoterapie, sociální práce a postoje. V empirické části práce je cílem odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku, která zní: Jaký postoj zaujímají sociální pracovníci a muzikoterapeuti k přínosům a rizikům využití muzikoterapie v sociální práci s dětmi s poruchou autistického spektra? Využita je kvalitativní výzkumná strategie, data jsou získány prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s jednotlivými sociálními pracovníky a muzikoterapeuty ve speciálních školách. V závěrečné části práce je zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka a dále následují doporučení pro praxi a návrhy pro další výzkumy.

Abstract:

The thesis examines the attitude of social workers and music therapists towards music therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder. Specifically it focuses on workers in special schools and classes. The theoretical part defines basic terms considering the autism spectrum disorder, music therapy, social work and relevant approaches. The empirical part aims to answer the main research question, i.e. what is the current attitude of social workers and music therapists towards the benefits and negatives of the use of music therapy during social work with children with autism spectrum disorder? Using a qualitative research method, the data were collected by the method of semi-structured interviews with social workers and music therapist in special schools. In the closing part of the thesis the main research question is answered and recommendations for practice and proposals for further research are offered.
