The quality of life of women and men with fertility disorder

Abstract:

Cíl: Hlavním cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit kvalitu života žen a mužů s poruchou plodnosti. Dále zjistit, zda se liší kvalita života u osob s poruchou plodnosti v závislosti na délce léčby neplodnosti, na délce partnerského vztahu, na počtu dětí, na celkovém zdraví a zkušenostech s metodami asistované reprodukce. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 144 respondentů, z toho bylo 79 žen a 65 mužů, kteří navštívili některé ze čtyř center asistované reprodukce v Moravskoslezském kraji. Výzkum probíhal od 1. 7. 2019 - 31. 10. 2019. Pro sběr dat byl použit standardizovaný dotazník FertiQol hodnotící kvalitu života u osob s poruchou plodnosti. Dotazník byl rozdělen na dvě části. První část obsahovala 9 demografických a doplňujících otázek, druhá část se skládala z 36 otázek standardizovaného dotazníku. Výsledky: Z výsledků vyplývá skutečnost, že kvalita života u osob s poruchou plodnosti je snížená. Pokud porovnáme skupinu žen a mužů mezi sebou, ženy hodnotí svoji kvalitu života hůře než muži. Je to dáno rozdílným pohledem na neplodnost i její léčbu. Bylo zjištěno, že čím déle se klienti s neplodností léčili, tím měli více problémů v partnerském vztahu a léčba u nich byla méně úspěšná. Dále byla zjištěna skutečnost, že osoby s poruchou plodnosti s jedním nebo více dětmi vykazovaly větší problémy oproti jedincům bez dětí. Ve vnímání celkového zdraví až takové rozdíly nebyly nalezeny. Z pohledu zkušeností s metodami asistované reprodukce (IVF, Inseminace) byly nalezeny statisticky významné rozdíly hlavně v emoční doméně. Ti jedinci, kteří měli osobní zkušenost s metodami asistované reprodukce, vykazovali nižší bodové hodnoty než jedinci bez zkušeností. Závěr: Neplodnost má stresující dopad pro oba partnery, což významně ovlivňuje kvalitu života těchto osob. Proto je důležité se touto problematikou zabývat a řešit ji, protože může nastat doba, kdy počít dítě bude velmi obtížné a pro většinu párů zcela nemožné.

Abstract:

Objektive: The main aim of this thesis was to find out the quality of life of women and men with fertility disorders. The next goal was to find out whether the quality of life of persons with fertility disorders varies depending on the length of infertility treatment, the length of the relationship, the number of children, overall health and experience with assisted reproductive methods. Methodology: The research sample consisted of 144 respondents - 79 women and 65 men who visited some of the four centers of assisted reproduction in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The research was conducted from 1.7.2019 to 31.10.2019. A standardized FertiQol questionnaire assessing the quality of life of persons with fertility problems was used for data collection. The questionnaire was divided into two parts. The first part contained 9 demographic and supplementary questions, the second part consisted of 36 standardized questionnaire questions. Results: The results show that the quality of life of people with fertility problems is reduced. If we compare the groups of women and men with each other, women have lower quality of life than men. This is due to a different view on infertility and its treatment. It was found that the longer the infertile clients were treated, the more problems they had in their relationship and the treatment was less successful. In the number of children, it appeared that persons with fertility problems with one or more children had greater problems than those without children. Compared to that, the differences in perception of overall health weren't found to be nearly as large. In terms of experience with assisted reproduction methods (IVF, Insemination), statistically significant differences were found mainly in the emotional domain. Those individuals who had personal experience with assisted reproductive methods showed lower scores than those without experience. Conclusion: Infertility is stressful for both partners, which significantly affects their quality of life. Therefore, it is important to research this issue and find solutions, because there may be times when it will be very difficult or even impossible for most couples to become pregnant.
