Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je anglická zdravotní sestra Florence Nightingale, zakladatelka britského zdravotnického systému. Práce se zabývá převážně jejím statistickým počínáním, její analýzou statistických dat a tvorbou grafických znázornění. Práce je členěná do dvou částí, první část popisuje informace obecnějšího rázu a tím vhodné zázemí pro druhou část. Zabývá se krátkou historií statistky, grafických znázornění, využitím statistiky v medicíně a Mezinárodním statistickým kongresem. Druhá část se zaměřuje na Florence Nightingale, její život, sběr statistických dat úmrtí vojáků v Krymské válce a grafická znázornění těchto statistik. Práce je završena popisem vlivu a přínosu Florence Nightingale statistické společnosti její doby.

Abstract:

The subject of the bachelor thesis is the English nurse Florence Nightingale, the founder of the British health care system. The thesis deals mainly with her statistical work, her analysis of statistical data and the creation of graphical representations. The work is divided into two parts, with the first part describing information of a more general character and thus providing a suitable background for the second part. It deals with a brief history of statistics, graphical representations, the use of statistics in medicine and the International Statistical Congress. The second part focuses on Florence Nightingale, her life, statistical data collection on soldier‘s mortality in the Crimean war and her graphical representations. The thesis concludes with a description of Florence Nightingale's influence and contribution to the statistical society of her time.
