Saving money or loss of the faith? Decrease of funerals from an anthropological perspective

Abstract:

Cílem práce je odkrýt aktérské strategie, které mohou způsobovat úbytek pietních aktů, a významy, které jsou těmto strategiím aktéry připisovány. V současné době ubývá v ČR smutečních rozloučení. Jednou z příčin může být fakt, že Česká republika je obecně jednou z více sekularizovaných zemí. Dalším možnou příčinou může být ekonomická stránka věci, související rovněž z poslední ekonomickou krizí. Práce si klade za cíl zodpovědět následující otázky. Může být sekularizace příčinou ubývání smutečních rozloučení? Jsou náklady na pohřeb natolik vysoké, že od nich radši opouštíme? Jak by mělo vypadat ideální rozloučení, které by splňovalo současné nároky pozůstalých?

Abstract:

The aim is to uncover the actors strategies that can cause loss of memorial ceremonies and meanings that are attributed to these strategies actors. Currently the number of funeral farewell is decreasing in the Czech Republic. One of the reasons may be the fact that the Czech Republic is generally one of the most secularized countries. Another possible cause is the economic side of things, also related to the recent economic crisis. The work aims to answer the following questions. Could be the secularization one of the reasons of decreasing number of funeral farewell? Are the funeral costs so high that we rather omit them? What would be the perfect farewell that would meet the current demands?
