The reading comprehension of pupils of the fifth year of elementary school

Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem Čtení s porozuměním u žáků 5. ročníků ZŠ se zabývá vlivem zvolené výukové metody čtení na kvalitu čtení a porozumění čtenému textu v 5. ročníku ZŠ. Teoretická část vymezuje klíčové pojmy spojené se zvolenou problematikou, jako jsou například čtenářská gramotnost, čtení s porozuměním, či počáteční čtenářská gramotnost. Věnuje se také představením nejčastěji užívaných metod výuky čtení v České republice. V závěru teoretické části se práce zabývá mezinárodnímu šetření PIRLS, které realizuje Česká školní inspekce. Empirická část práce zkoumá kvalitu čtení u žáků 5. ročníků ZŠ a to z mnoha hledisek. Sleduje kvantitativní stránku čtení, kterou je rychlost a správnost, ale také kvalitativní stránku, kterou je porozumění čtenému textu. Porozumění je zjišťováno pomocnými otázkami k textu, které jsou zvoleny na principech mezinárodního šetření PIRLS. Na základě získaných dat je charakterizováno čtení s porozuměním zvoleného vzorku respondentů.

Abstract:

This thesis "Reading comprehension in 5th grades of elementary schools" is focused on the connection between the influence of the reading method and the quality of reading and reading comprehension in the 5th grade of elementary school. The theoretical part defines the key concepts associated with the issue, such as reading literacy, reading comprehension, or initial reading literacy. It also presents the most common methods of teaching reading in the Czech Republic. At the end of the theoretical part the thesis deals with the international survey PIRLS, which is implemented by the Czech School Inspectorate. The empirical part of the thesis analyzes the quality of reading in 5th grade primary school. It follows the quantitative aspect of reading, which is speed and accuracy, but also the qualitative aspect, which is reading comprehension. Understanding is determined by auxiliary questions that are selected on the basis of the PIRLS international survey. On the basis of the obtained data, the reading comprehension of selected sample of respondents is characterized.
