Online quiz assignments as a mean of formative evaluation and their use in GFL lessons

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the topic of formative assessment, namely its use in a specific exercise approach, which was carried out with 92 pupils from seventh 7th to 9th grade from September 2020 to February 2021 as part of the German lessons and was preceded in the spring of 2020 by a pilot project with a group of 20 pupils. In this exercise approach, students were given quiz tasks from the Google Classroom platform. In addition to the compulsory summative assessed task, students always had a voluntary exercise task at their disposal, which they could complete repeatedly. This master thesis deals with three questions: (1) Are students willing to deal with training tasks in the longer term (here within six months); (2) do students with below-average results also use training tasks and (3) does the fulfilment of training tasks contribute to the success of the assessed tasks? In this work, the results of all tasks are first presented using box plots. Furthermore, the performances of individual pupils are monitored, in which it is determined what performance they achieved in the assessed tasks, how often they trained and what are the average grades from the main subjects. These data were then subjected to a linear regression analysis and it was determined how involvement in voluntary exercise tasks contributes to the success of the assessed tasks.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem formativního hodnocení, a to jeho použití v konkrétním učebním postupu, který byl uskutečněn se 92 žáky a žákyněmi 7.-9. třídy základní školy od září 2020 do února 2021 v rámci výuky němčiny a jemuž předcházel na jaře 2020 pilotní projekt se skupinou 20 žáků. V tomto cvičebním postupu byly žákům zadávány úkoly s kvízem s platformě Google Classroom. Vedle povinného bodově (sumativně) hodnoceného úkolu měli žáci vždy k dispozici dobrovolný cvičební úkol, který mohli vyplňovat opakovaně. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá třemi otázkami: (1) Jsou žáci ochotni zabývat se tréninkovými úkoly i v delším časovém horizontu (zde během půl roku); (2) využívají tréninkové úkoly i žáci s podprůměrnými výsledky a (3) přispívá plnění tréninkových úkolů k úspěchu při hodnocených úkolech? V této práci jsou nejdříve pomocí krabicových diagramů prezentovány výsledky všech úloh. Dále jsou sledovány výkony jednotlivých žáků, u nichž se zjišťuje, jakého dosáhli výkonu při hodnocených úkolech, jak často trénovali a jaké mají průměrné známky z hlavních předmětů. Tato data pak byla následně podrobena lineární regresní analýze a bylo zjišťováno, jak se zapojení do dobrovolných cvičebních úkolů podílí na úspěchu při hodnocených úkolech.
