Soumrak galerie/Analýza současného uměleckého provozu v širším kontextu sociálních, politických a ekonomických podmínek v České republice

Doctoral thesis

This work is focused on the theoretical analysis of different conditions for the existence of an independent gallery institution which were established in the Czech Republic mainly after the Velvet revolution. I will try to compare and describe the conditions for the existence of artists, collectors and curators, who live in the Czech Republic. If you observe the situation for the existence of contemporary art in the Czech Republic now, we can notice a lot of situations which remind us of the times before 89. The context is different, but it seems to me the attitudes have remained the same. We could describe different types of attitudes before Velvet revolution. The result of this situation is small economic support for non profit galleries and other activities connected with contemporary art , because of artists and curators try to find other ways of theirs activities

Abstract:

Tématem disertační práce je obecný předpoklad, že byť současný galerijní provoz v České republice a jednotlivé umělecké osobnosti fungují v jiném společenském kontextu, sociální i politická realita je zásadně odlišná od doby před rokem 1989. V určitém hlubším smyslu se do současných podmínek, zejména alternativních způsobů prezentace současného umění, promítají stereotypy chování z doby před rokem 1989, kdy můžeme znovu nalézt některé výstavy současného umění v podobném kontextu jako v minulosti. Na jedné straně je i dnes možné hovořit o jevu vytěsňování současného umění na pomyslnou periferii zájmu společnosti či přímo o represivních projevech jako je např. cenzura, zákaz výstavy či galerijního projektu. Na straně druhé je možné vnímat vizuální umění v kontextu budování prestižních exkluzivních zón, do jejichž provozu se často promítají politické preference jednotlivých protagonistů umělecké scény.
