The influence of unemployment and duration of marriage on divorce rate in the Czech republic.

Abstract:

Cílem práce je prokázat, zda a v jaké míře nezaměstnanost a délka trvání manželství před rozvodem ovlivňují míru rozvodovosti v jednotlivých okresech České republiky. V práci jsou využita data získaná z databází ČSÚ, konkrétně míra rozvodovosti v jednotlivých okresech, nezaměstnanost a doba trvání manželství, a to za období posledních 10 let, tedy 2007-2017. Byly stanoveny dvě hypotézy: "Existuje pozitivní vztah mezi mírou rozvodovosti a mírou nezaměstnanosti." "Délka trvání manželství do 5 let před rozvodem zvyšuje míru rozvodovosti." Získaná data jsou zpracovávána pomocí jednoduché i vícenásobné regresní analýzy. Výsledky vykazují prokazatelný, avšak statisticky ne příliš významný vliv nezaměstnanosti na rozvodovost. Práce poskytuje přehled o faktorech ovlivňujících rozvodovost, je příspěvkem k rozšíření diskuze o tématu a analýza vlivu nezaměstnanosti může být využita jako podklad pro výzkum dalších faktorů ovlivňujících rozvodovost.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to establish whether and to what extent unemployment and duration of marriage before divorce influence the divorce rate in individual districts of the Czech Republic. The thesis uses data obtained from CZSO databases, namely the divorce rate in individual districts, unemployment and the duration of marriage, that were collected during the last ten years, i.e. from 2007 to 2017. Two hypotheses were established: "There is a positive relationship between the divorce rate and the unemployment rate." and "The duration of marriage up to 5 years before divorce increases the divorce rate." The obtained data were processed using simple and multiple regression analysis. The results showed a provable, but not statistically significant impact of unemployment on divorce rate. The thesis provides an overview of the factors influencing the divorce rate and it contributes to expanding the discussion about this topic. Furthermore, the analysis of the impact of unemployment can be used as a basis for an analysis of other factors influencing the divorce rate.
