Geny pro rRNA (přítomné ve stovkách až tisících tandemových kopií), jsou složené z transkripční jednotky a intergenového mezerníku. U eukaryotických organizmů jsou tyto oblasti (zejména během metafáze buněčného dělení) patrné jako zóny sekundární konstrikce v místě organizátorů jadérka. The rRNA genes (present in hundreds to thousands tandem copies) are composed of a transcriptional unit and intergenic spacer. In eukaryotic organisms these areas are (particularly during the metaphase of cell division) shown in the zone of secondary constriction as nucleolar organizing regions.
