History and Present of the terroristic organization al-Kaida

Abstract:

Cílem mé diplomové práce je popsat historické okolnosti vzniku jedné z nejznámnějších teroristických organizací světa al-Káidy. V první kapitole se věnuji základům islámu, jeho tradicím a historii. V další kapitole se zaměřuji na myšlenkové proudy, ze kterých vychází program teroristů wahhábismus. Vysvětluji také základní pojmy, které se vztahují k terorismu například džihád nebo fundamentalismus. Třetí kapitola je o vzniku, názvu a ideologii al-Káidy. Také o fungování a struktuře organizace a jak probíhá výcvik teroristů. Ve čtvrté kapitole se věnuji vůdci Usámu bin Ládinovi a dalším představitelům. Dále zmiňuji i finanční zdroje organizace a napojení na vlivné rodiny a podnikatele ve světě. V poslední kapitole uvádím útok z 11. září 2001 a proč se cílem staly Spojené státy. Popisuji vliv Západu na myšlení atentátníků a poté profil atentátníků. Závěr tvoří reakce arabského i západního světa na útok. Jednou z reakcí je změna bezpečnostní politiky Spojených států a přijetí nové Národní bezpečnostní strategie (září 2002). Byl také rozšířen seznam teroristických organizací a vytvořen seznam nejhledanějších teroristů světa. Terororistické akce jsou dnes již nedílnou součástí tohoto světa a stále otevřený problém, který je aktuální pro všechny státy. Poté, co byl roku 2004 napaden také Madrid, síť al-Káidy se rozšířila i do Evropy. Na území Evropy žijí milióny muslimských přistěhovalců. Většina z nich se integrovala a v prvních generacích přistěhovalců lze vidět úspěšné absolventy západních univerzit. Na druhé straně je ale množství mladých lidí, kteří se staví proti této perspektivě a snadno podlehnou ideologii al-Káidy. Ti odmítají kulturní asimilaci, protože se obávají o svou identitu. Francouzská a anglická politika představuje dva póly chování evropských zemí v boji proti terorismu. Jako příklad zemí uvádím Velkou Británii, kde již od omsdesátých let 20. století vzniká útočiště pro arabské přistěhovalce, známé jako Londonistán. V reakci na madridské atentáty však také Velká Británie musela svou politiku poskytování azylu přehodnotit.

Abstract:

The aim of my diploma paper is to describe the circumstances leading to the rise of the best-known terroristic organization in the world, al-Kaida. In the first chapter, I deal with the basic of Islam, its traditions and its history. In next chapter, I focus on school of thought which serves as the base for terrorists´program (Wahhabism). I also interpret fundamental connected with terrorism (Jihad or Fundamentalism). The third chapter deals with the rise, the name itself and the ideology of al-Kaida. Furthermore, I focus on the organization functions, its structure and description of terrorists´ training proceedings. In the fourth chapter, I focus on Osama bin Laden ? al-Kaid´s leader and other significant representatives of al-Kaida. Furthermore, I mention financial sources of the organization and its connection to some of the most influential families and entrepreneurs in the world. In the last chapter, I deal with 2001 September 11th, attack. I also try to explain reasons why it was the USA that suffered this terrorist assault. Moreover, I describe the influence of the western world on the assassins´thinking together with the profile of these assassins. In the final part of the paper, I focus on the Arabic and Western world reactions to the aggression. Adopting the new National Security Strategy (September 2002) and transformations in Security Policy of the USA are only some of the reactions. Another may be terroristic organizations list extension and creating of the most wanted terrorists in the world list. Terroristic actions are already integral part of this world and an open problem nowadays. This problem is relevant for all countries. After Madrid attack in 2004, al-Kaida´s network spread in Europe as well. There are millions Islamic immigrations living in Europe. Most of them have integrated and we can see students who have successfully graduated western universities among the first generations of these immigrations. However, there are many young people who oppose to this perspective and they easily succumb to the ideology of al-Kaida. They reject the cultural assimilation because they worry about losing their identity. France and Great Britain represent two European behavioral counterparts in the question of dealing with terrorism. Great Britain, for example, is a country where Arabic refugees have been seeking asylum (Londonistan) since 1980s. However, after Madrid attack, even Great Britain had to reasses its asylum grant policy.
