ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines), their Place in the Payment System

Abstract:

Téma bakalářské práce „Bankomaty a jejich místo v platebním styku“ jsem si vybral z důvodu své dlouholeté práce v bankovním sektoru na oddělení bezpečnosti a rizika kartových produktů, z čehož pramení i mé zkušenosti s touto problematikou. Ve své bakalářské práci se zaměřuji hlavně na bezpečnostní stránku věci, která se týká napadení bankomatů a to různými zcela odlišnými a čím dále sofistikovanějšími metodami. Práci začínám historií platebních karet a následně bankomatů, protože tyto dvě věci od sebe nelze oddělit. Jejich rozvoj a vývoj je úzce spojen se stále rostoucími potřebami držitelů platebních karet. Pokusím se představit funkce bankomatu, tak jak jsou vnímány širokou veřejností. Které z funkcí novodobých bankomatů považují klienti za důležité a bez kterých by se obešli. Stěžejním tématem mé práce bude ale představení jednotlivých druhů podvodných aktivit jak jedinců, tak i organizovaných skupin pachatelů trestné činnosti a samozřejmě představím i druhou stranu mince, kterou je opatření bank proti takovémuto podvodnému jednání, vyšetřování napadení ATM a na případu představím i naplňování práva v souvislosti s touto nelegální trestnou činností.

Abstract:

Based on a long time experience in dealing with security of card products in the Cards Operation Department I have chosen the topic Role of the ATMs in the Payment System for my thesis. The thesis concentrates mainly on the security of the ATMs, which have been attacked by different and very sofisticated means lately. The thesis starts with the history of the payment cards and ATMs as those items are closely related and can not be separated. Their development is connected to the growing needs of the card users. Following part of the thesis shows functions of the ATMs, points out which of them are suggested by the clients to be important and which of them could be skipped out. Crucial part of the thesis presents different kinds of fraud activities both of the individuals and organised gangs, and concentrates also on the precautions of the banks and ATM attacks investigation. A legal side of the ATM frauds is shown on an example in the final part.
