Age discrimination from seniors' point of view

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou stárnutí a stáří. V souvislosti s touto problematikou jsou v jejím obsahu nastíněna specifika komunikace se seniory jako jeden z projevů interakce seniora se svým okolím. Zabývá se také tématem ageismu ? věkové diskriminace seniorů a jejími specifiky. Cílem diplomové práce bylo nahlédnout do světa seniorů a přiblížit jejich běžný denní život, postoje a názory na současnou společnost a případné projevy ageismu, tak jak je vnímají oni sami. Praktická část se pak zabývá tím, jak sami senioři vnímají vzájemnou interakci se svým okolím, jak na ně působí a zda vnímají případné projevy ageismu vůči jejich věkové kategorii.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with the problems of aging and old age. In connection with this problems is in its content outlined specifics of the communication with senior citizens as one of the manifestations of senior interaction with its surroundings. It also occupy the topic of ageism ? age discrimination old people and its specifics. The aim of this dissertation was to look into the world of seniors and bring their normal daily life closer, their attitudes and view on contemporary society and the possible manifestations of ageism, as they perceive themselves. The practical part deals with how seniors perceive themselves to interact with their environment, how it affects them and whether they perceive any sign of ageism towards their age group.
