The development of stereotypes associated with Islam

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje vývoji stereotypů, jež jsou nejčastěji spojovány s islámem. Je to fanatismus, terorismus, útlak žen a omezování lidských práv. Takto stereotypně jsou vnímány především v současné době. Avšak z důvodu zkoumání budou v práci mapovány už od středověku. Ke každé době jsou uvedeni tři autoři, kteří se nějakým způsobem zabývali islámem a přišli do styku s již právě zmíněnými stereotypy. Po teoretickém úvodu, ve kterém je definován stereotyp a nastíněn základní rozdíl mezi ním a předsudkem, následuje konkrétní pohled na stereotypy prostřednictvím profesora Balagangadhary Raa. Následné kapitoly se už konkrétně zabývají jednotlivými stereotypy a jsou obohaceny názory vybraných autorů. V úvodu každé kapitoly je historický přehled o vztahu křesťanství s islámem, který přináší povědomí o situaci v daném období. V závěru se tato bakalářská práce snaží shrnout zjištěné poznatky a zdůvodnit jejich následný vliv na chování společnosti.

Abstract:

This thesis is devoted to the development of stereotypes, which are most often associated with Islam. It's fanaticism, terrorism, oppression of women and the restriction of human rights. Thus stereotyped are perceived principally currently. However, because of the investigation in thesis they will be mapped since the Middle Ages. Each time, the three authors, who are somehow engaged of Islam and came into contact with the already mentioned stereotypes. After a theoretical introduction, which is defined by stereotype and outlines the fundamental difference between him and the bias is followed by concrete look at stereotypes by professor Balagangadhara Rao. Subsequent chapters are specifically concerned with the various stereotypes and are enriched with the views of selected authors. At the beginning of each chapter is a historical overview of the relationship between Christianity and Islam, which brings awareness of the situation in a given period. In conclusion, this thesis tries to summarize the findings and justify their subsequent impact on corporate behavior.
