Causes and Prevention of Children Maltreatment in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Příčiny a prevence týrání dětí v České republice“ pojednává o pravděpodobných příčinách týrání dětí rodiči v našem státě, jakožto i o možné nebo fungující prevenci tohoto fenoménu v našem státě. Práce přitom srovnává fungující způsoby prevence u nás i ve světě s cílem poukázat na možnosti inspirace od jiných států. Především je však tato práce hloubkovou sondou do výchovného stylu několika rodičů, kteří používají fyzické tresty a sami byli v dětství takto trestáni, a to zejména krutým způsobem, který naplňuje definici CAN. Přesto se jedná o osoby z běžné, „normální“ populace, kterými by mohl být kdokoli z nás. Hranice povědomí o týrání dětí se tak poněkud posouvá do běžnějšího života. Práce pátrá po příčinách tvrdého fyzického trestání a krutého zacházení a sleduje způsoby, jakými se jednotliví respondenti s těmito zkušenostmi z dětství vyrovnávají, případně přenášejí-li je nějakým způsobem, ať už vědomě či nevědomě, do výchovy svých vlastních dětí. Teoretická část práce nevyjímá ani problém sexuálního zneužívání (přestože se jím jmenovitě podrobně nezabývá), protože tento způsob týrání dětí mívá často podobný psychický podklad, jako špatné zacházení s dítětem, včetně fyzického týrání.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis „Causes and Prevention of Children Maltreatment in the Czech Republic“ is dealing with probable causes of children maltreatment by parents in our country, as well as with possible or functioning prevention of this phenomenon in our country. The thesis is also comparing functioning methods of prevention in our country and abroad with the aim of pointing out possibilities of inspiration coming from other countries. This thesis is mainly a probe to the educating manners of several parents, who use physical punishments and had themselves been punished in their childhood, mainly in a cruel way, which fulfils the definition of CAN. Nevertheless, we are talking about ordinary people, it could be any of us. Frontiers of children maltreatment awareness are thus somewhat shifted to the more ordinary life. The thesis is trying to find causes of severe physical punishments and cruel treatment and is monitoring the ways in which particular informants deal with this experience from their childhood, eventually whether they project it in some way into the education of their own children, either consciously or unconsciously. The theoretical part of the thesis does not exclude problems of sexual abuse (although it does not deal with it in detail) because this way of children maltreatment has often a similar psychical basis as bad treatment of a child including physical maltreatment.
