Uzbek foreign policy after Soviet union break up

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou zahraniční politiky Uzbekistánu od roku 1991 do současnosti. Pracuji zde s teorií sociálního konstruktivismu, skrze kterou se snažím najít kontinuitu ve zdánlivě nesourové uzbecké zahraniční politice. V teoretické části pracuji s teorií sociálního konstruktivismu a konceptem identit, tvorby norem a konstrukcí národních zájmů, kterým se podrobně věnuje Alexandr Wendt. V neposlední řadě se zde zabývám terií rolí a jejím užitám v analýze zahraniční politiky. V praktické části teorii rolí aplikuji na tři fáze analyzovaného období vývoje zahraniční politiky. Teorie rolí se jeví jako účinný analytický nástroj, protože práce docházá k závěru, že národní identita zahraniční politiku neovlivňuje. Její existenci de facto popírá charakter autoritativního režimu prezidenta Islama Karimova.

Abstract:

This thesis analyzes the foreign policy of Uzbekistan from 1991 to the present. I work here with the theory of social constructivism, through the theory I try to find continuity in a discontinuous Uzbek foreign policy. The theoretical part deals with the theory of social constructivism and identity concepts, norms and the construction of national interests, which are addressed in detail Alexander Wendt. Finally, I deal with role theory in the analysis of foreign policy. Role theory is here use as a powerful analytical tool because identity has no effect to foreign policy of Uzbekistan. Its existence de facto denies authoritarian regime of President Islam Karimov.
