Statistical analysis of the impact of sanctions against the Russian Federation on foreign trade

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je statistická analýza dopadu sankcí uvalených na Ruskou federaci vzhledem k její roli v krymské krizi. Tento dopad je hodnocen z pohledu českého zahraničního obchodu, konkrétně jsou zde modelovány odhady českého vývozu, a to ve finančním i hmotnostním pojetí. Pro tyto analýzy jsou použita data vývozu zboží dle klasifikace SITC za roky 2012–2016 a zdrojem dat je Český statistický úřad. Práce by měla přinést pohled na ovlivnění českého zahraničního obchodu uvalením hospodářských sankcí na Rusko. V teoretické části se práce postupně věnuje problematice sankcí obecně, politickému pozadí uvalení sankcí na Rusko a specifikaci těchto sankcí. Následuje rešerše dosavadní literatury na toto téma a specifikace konkrétních statistických modelů. V praktické části je provedena grafická analýza a následně samotná statistická analýza s odhadem dopadu těchto ekonomických sankcí. Závěrem práce je potvrzení poklesu vývozu z České republiky do Ruska po zavedení sankcí.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is statistical analysis of the impact of sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation due to its role in the Crimean crisis. This impact is assessed from the point of view of Czech foreign trade, specifically the estimates of Czech exports are modeled in both financial and mass conception. For these analyses, data of goods export are used as classified by the SITC classification for the years 2012-2016 and the data source is the Czech Statistical Office. The work should provide insight into the influence of imposed economic sanctions against Russia on Czech foreign trade. In the theoretical part, the thesis deals with the issue of sanctions in general, the political background of imposing sanctions on Russia and the specification of these sanctions. This is followed by a review of the literature on the subject and the specification of specific statistical models. In the practical part, the graphical analysis is performed and then the statistical analysis itself, with an estimate of the impact of these economic sanctions. The conclusion of the thesis is the confirmation of the decline in exports from the Czech Republic to Russia after the sanctions have been imposed.
