Strategic Analysis of DHL IT Services

Abstract:

Cílem dané bakalářské práce je provedení strategické analýzy společnosti DHL IT Services. V teoretické části práce je definováno pojetí strategie na základě literární rešerše, strategické analýzy a příslušných metod. V praktické části jsou dané metody použity pro zanalyzování vnějšího okolí firmy a jejích vnitřních zdrojů a schopností. Analýza vnějšího okolí firmy je provedena prostřednictvím PESTEL metody, průzkumu základních charakteristik daného odvětví, sestavení mapy konkurenčních skupin a srovnání konkurence, aplikování Porterova modelu pěti sil a rozborem zákazníků. Vnitřní zdroje a schopnosti společnosti jsou následně vyhodnoceny pomocí VRIO analýzy, finanční analýzy, analýzy portfolia. Konečným výstupem je provedení syntézy zjištěných informací o společnosti pomocí SWOT analýzy. Závěrem práce je zjištění a vyhodnocení strategické pozice DHL IT Services jako interního poskytovatele IT služeb v rámci DHL Group.

Abstract:

The objective of this Bachelor's thesis is to conduct a strategic analysis of DHL IT Services. In the theoretical section of the thesis, the concept of strategy, strategic analysis and relevant methods are defined based on a comprehensive literature search. In the practical part of the thesis, the aforementioned methods are employed to analyze the external environment of the company and its internal resources and capabilities. The external environment of the firm is analyzed through a PESTEL analysis, an examination of the basic characteristics of the industry, the creation of a map of competitive groups and an analysis of competitors, the application of Porter's five forces model and a customer analysis. Subsequently, the internal resources and capabilities of the company are evaluated through a variety of analytical techniques, including VRIO analysis, financial analysis, and portfolio analysis. Finally, the output is to perform a synthesis of the information found about the company using SWOT analysis. The thesis concludes by identifying and evaluating the strategic position of DHL IT Services as an internal IT service provider within the DHL Group.
