Qualifications, authorizations and duties of external auditor compared with internal auditor

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou profesí interního a externího auditora. Nejprve se zabývá obecně vymezením externího a interního auditu. Vysvětlena je také role institucí v oblasti auditu, které působí v ČR. Poté porovná auditorské profese z hlediska požadavků na jejich kvalifikaci, praxi, povinnosti a práva. Tyto požadavky vyplývají většinou z českých právních předpisů a mezinárodních auditorských standardů. Povolání externího auditora je výrazně více regulováno. V auditorských postupech a metodách se interní a externí auditoři příliš neliší a proto mohou spolupracovat. Právě možnostmi a přínosy auditorské spolupráce se zabývá další část této práce. Na závěr této práce navrhuji základní kroky vedoucí k zlepšení interního auditu v českých obchodních společnostech.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on analysis of professions internal and external auditors. At first it deals with external and internal auditing in general way. The role of audit institutions in Czech Republic are also clarified. Thereafter auditors professions are compared in requirements of their qualification, experience, authorizations and duties. These requirements follows primarily from legislative enviroment in Czech Republic and International standards for auditing. For this perspective, the profession of external auditor are much more regulated. External and internal auditors have different goals, but have some similarities in auditing techniques and methods, therefore they may cooperate. The next part of this thesis deals with possibilities and benefits from this cooperation. At the end of this work, I suggest basic approaches to improve internal auditing in Czech business companies.
