Support of students´ creativity at elementary and secondary schools by means of extracurricular activities in Physics

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem předložené disertační práce bylo zvýšení zájmu a podpora kreativity žáků ve fyzice pomocí webových stránek s fyzikálními experimenty, prezentující tuto přírodovědnou disciplínu populárním způsobem. Dílčí cíle zahrnovaly přípravu obsahu webových stránek, formu, kterou budou stránky prezentovány návštěvníkovi webu a také jejich samotnou realizaci. Dále potom naplánování a provedení pedagogického experimentu, který zjišťoval stupeň splnění hlavního cíle, jeho vyhodnocení a následnou interpretaci a diskuzi výsledků. Výzkumný soubor tvořily dvě věkové skupiny ? žáci 7. tříd základních škol (a věkově odpovídající žáci víceletých gymnázií) a žáci 1. ročníku gymnázií (a věkově odpovídající žáci víceletých gymnázií). Postoje žáků byly zjišťovány pomocí dotazníku. Cílem pedagogického experimentu bylo porovnání změn názorů na fyzikální experimenty a na fyziku jako takovou. Změn u obou věkových skupin bylo dosaženo seznámením je s obsahem (experimenty) webových stránek www.popularni-fyzika.cz. Bylo zjištěno, že webové stránky měly větší vliv na žáky 7. ročníků základní školy než na žáky 1. ročníků střední školy. U obou skupin byl zaznamenán nárůst zájmu o fyzikální experimenty. Vliv fyzikálních experimentů na zvýšení zájmu o fyziku byl u obou skupin výrazný, více než 60%! Webové stránky www.popularni-fyzika.cz jsou lehce vyhledatelné a pro více než 90% žáků zajímavé. Mohou sloužit jako inspirace učitelům při přípravě na výuku, záznam experimentů lze zařadit do výuky. Návody experimentů mohou být použity jako podklady pro volnočasový kroužek. Žákům webové stránky usnadní domácí přípravu na výuku. Rodičům pak pomohou při plánování volného času svých dětí.

Abstract:

The principal aim of my thesis was to create a website with physical experiments presenting this field of natural science in a popular way. The constituent objectives included the website contents preparation, the form in which the web pages will be presented to visitors and also the realization itself, as well as the planning and implementation of the pedagogical experiment, its evaluation together with the subsequent results interpretation and discussion. The research target was to detect the influence of physical experiments on the pupils attitude towards physical experimenting and the pupils interest in Physics. The research file consisted of two age groups ? elementary schools pupils from 7th grades (or students of similar age from lower levels of secondary schools) and grammar schools students from 1st grades (or students of similar age from higher levels of secondary schools). The research problem was solved by means of a pedagogical experiment. The pupils attitudes were analysed on the basis of surveys. The pedagogical experiment result represents the comparison of changes in attitude to physical experiments and the subject of Physics as such. The change in both age groups was achieved by getting to know the contents - experiments on the web page www.popularni-fyzika.cz. It was ascertained that the web site influenced rather 7th grade pupils from elementary schools than 1st grade students from grammar schools. A considerable growth of interest in physical experiments was noticed in both groups. However, the influence of physical experiments on the increase of interest in Physics was significant with the incremental value of more than 60% in both groups! The web site www.popularni-fyzika.cz is easy to find and more than 90% of pupils find it interesting. It might be used as a source of inspiration for teachers during their classes preparation as it is possible to watch the experiment recordings in the classroom. The experiments instruction manual may be used as the groundwork for a free-time club. The web pages can help pupils make the preparation for their classes at home much easier and thus help parents to plan their children´s leisure time.
