The Optimization of Capital Structure of the Company "ČD - Telematika a.s."

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce bylo navržení optimální kapitálové struktury firmy ČD - Telematika a.s.. Nejprve byly, na základě odborných pramenů, definovány základní pojmy, které tvoří stěžejní část většiny následně popisovaných teoretických přístupů. To obnášelo vymezení kapitálové struktury, zlatých bilančních pravidel, nákladů vlastního i cizího kapitálu, vážených průměrných nákladů kapitálu nebo nákladů finanční tísně. Poté byla provedena vlastní syntéza jednotlivých teorií optimalizace kapitálové struktury. V další části byly uvedeny základní informace o firmě ČD - Telematika a.s., jejím předmětu podnikání, struktuře vlastníků, o její historii a profilových činnostech. Následovala stručná analýza ukazatelů efektivity podnikání, které mají nejtěsnější vztah s volbou poměru cizího a vlastního kapitálu. Pak byla analyzována současná kapitálová struktura a v důsledku toho byla navržena její optimalizace. Jelikož byly během analýz zjištěny určité nedostatky v oblasti produkční síly, byl zkonstruován zjednodušený model, který by se pokusil tato omezení částečně řešit. Za těchto předpokladů byla provedena nová komparace teorie s praxí a stanoveno, jak by se změnila optimální kapitálová struktura, která by umožnila zvýšení rentability vlastního kapitálu.

Abstract:

The main aim of this diploma thesis was to design the optimal capital structure of the company ČD - Telematika Inc.. At first the basic terms were defined on the basis of specialised sources. These sources create the principal part of the subsequently described theoretical approaches. This involved the definition of capital structure, golden balance rules, costs of both equity and external capital. Furthermore, the weighted average cost of capital as well as costs of financial distress was carried out. In the next part, basic information about the company ČD - Telematika Inc. was given such as: its scope of business, ownership structure and profiled activities. This was followed by a brief analysis of business efficiency indicators which have the closest connection to the choice of the ratio of external capital and equity. Then the current capital structure was analyzed and consequently its optimization was proposed. As some shortcomings were detected in the production power, therefore a simplified model that partially attempted to solve these limitations was designed. Upon these assumptions the theory with the practical experience were compared again and the optimal capital structure was determined. This new capital structure would increase the profitability of equity.
