Company transformation from the perspective of biographical narratives

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je prostřednictvím vlastního kvalitativního výzkumu zjistit, jak se změnila konkrétní umělecká instituce během posledních 30 let, a dále pak určit podstatné faktory, které jsou zdrojem loajality dlouholetých zaměstnanců k dané firmě. Jejím přínosem je doporučení pro firmy v uměleckém odvětví ohledně toho, jak zacházet se svými zaměstnanci, jak pracovat s identitou a také jak zaměstnance motivovat. Po teoretickém vymezení pojmů a představení výsledků studií týkajících se problematiky starších zaměstnanců na pracovišti následuje praktická část práce. Díky provedení pilotního výzkumu mohly být odstraněny technické a praktické nedostatky. Samotný výzkum odhalil různé organizační zdroje dlouhodobé loajality zaměstnanců. Například je důležité, aby je práce bavila, k čemuž je mimo jiné velmi podstatné mít kolegu, na kterého se mohou spolehnout a zároveň si s ním lidsky rozumí. Zaměstnanci mají rovněž pozitivní vztah k firmě, ve které pracují, ke svému povolání, a i ke svým mladším kolegům. V závěrečné diskuzi jsou zahrnuty okolnosti, které mohly ovlivnit výsledky výzkumu.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out through own qualitative research how a particular art institution has changed over the last 30 years and then determine the essential factors that are a source of loyalty of long-term employees to the company. Contribution of this thesis consist in recommendations for companies in the arts industry in how to treat their employees, how to work with identity and, also how to motivate employees. After the theoretical definition of the terms and the presentation of the results of studies concerning the issue of older employees in the workplace, the practical part of the thesis follows. By conducting the pilot research, technical and practical shortcomings could have been eliminated. The research itself showed various organizational sources of long-term employee loyalty. For example, it is important if employees enjoy their work, and is, among other things, very important to have a colleague they can rely on and at the same time understand humanly. Employees also have a positive attitude towards the company in which they work, their profession, and their younger colleagues. The final discussion includes circumstances that may have influenced the research results.
