Abstract:

"Příběh začíná v místech, kde sen dostává svůj stín." Film Noctuelle je filmem o souboji dobra se zlem. Hlavní postava filmu, Noctuelle, vyrábí ve své dílně noční motýly. Tito motýli poté opouštějí jeho dílnu a letí tmou do oken spících lidí, aby jim na svých křídlech přinesli sny. Sny kladné, protože Noctuelle uznává jen čisté dobro. Celý jeho život spočívá v soustavné práci na motýlech. Vytváří bez odpočinku jednoho po druhém. Sám navrhuje tvar jejich křídel. Sám jejich křídla maluje. Sám přišívá křídla k tělíčkům. V jeho dílně je ale krom jiných podivností i jeho protivník, jeho protějšek, který v tichosti vyčkává ve skleněné vitríně. Náhle se ale jeden z motýlů chytne omylem do pavučiny, Noctuelle neváhá a spěchá motýla vysvobodit. To se mu sice podaří, ale nešťastnou náhodou tak znestabilní i netopýrovu vitvínu, jeho vězení. Noctuelle má v tu chvíli ještě radost. Zachránil jednoho svého motýla, ovšem uvedl tak v nebezpečí nejen sebe, ale i všechny zbývající motýly. Netopýr totiž motýly svým kousnutím mění na noční můry. Noctuelleovi nezbývá, než se s netopýrem pustit do souboje. Nejprve to zkouší koštětem, ale docílí jen toho, že netopýr vyletí z dílny ven. Vydává se tedy za ním a na střeše své dílny za bouřky svádí rozhodující souboj na život a na smrt. Souboj Noctuelle sice vyhrává, ale z posledního zbytku sil jej netopýr kouše. Tím se Noctuelle dostavá do své vlastní noční můry, kde zjišťuje, že on sám může být netopýrem, a že tedy nebojuje proti netopýru, ale proti sobě samému. Zjišťuje, že nejen v jeho dílně, ale v celém vesmíru musí vedle dobra existovat také zlo. Bez něj by totiž dobro nebylo ničím. Když se sám na posteli ze své noční můry probouzí, zdá se, že se nic nezměnilo. Netopýr je stále na svém místě. Noctuelle se tedy za ranního rozbřesku dává znovu do práce. Byl to celé jen jeho sen, nebo se to skutečně všechno stalo?

Abstract:

"The story begins, where each dream has it's shade." Film Noctuelle is about battle between the good and evil. The main character - Noctuelle, crafts " night butterflies" alone in his craftshop. These butterflies than fly into the dark and on their wings, they bring dreams to all sleepers outside. Dreams are always sweet as Noctuelle reveres only the good. He sacrificed his whole life to never ending work with butterflies and constantly crafts one after another without any rest. He designs shapes, draw colours and sew it all together on his own. But he's not all alone. Besides all strange things in the craftshop, there's his adversary, his opposition in form of a bat, silently waiting inside a cupboard, imprisoned behind the glass. All of a sudden, one butterfly get trapped in a spider web and Noctuelle does not hesitate a minute to rescue the poor thing. He succeeds but within the action he accidentally destabilise the cupboard and set the bat free out of it's prison. Saving the butterfly was good but loosing the bat free represents huge danger to his crafts and even to himself, as the bat bite turns butterflies into nightmares. The only option is to fight. Noctuelle attacks the bat with a broomstick but that only drove it out of the window. Storm's raging outside and he run after the bat at craftshop's rooftop where final fight to the death will occur. Noctuelle is winning but just before the bat is defeated dead, it bites him and send Noctuelle into his own nightmare, where Noctuelle figures that he migh become the bat himself and realise that he was not fighting evil but only his inner self. He's beginning to understand the relationship between good and evil, that none of it would exist without each other. His craftshop, just as whole universe, needs both. When he wakes up from his nightmare, nothing has changed. He lies in bed and the bat is still on it's place inside the cupboard. Noctuelle goes to work while the sunrise illuminate the shop. Was it all just a dream, or does it really happened?
